Brokin' Down On A One Way Track

Ol’ Kingsmen town some seventy miles away
And these wheels roll on their last leg
It’s a mighty long stretch to that ol’ LA
About four hundred miles or so

The mountains they’re standin’ somewhere in the distance
And the sun pourin’ heat down like rain
Ol’ Seligman just a memory now
Spread over endless acres of green

Route 66 is a dusty ol’ road
Timeless though she may be
Weathered men of ages tellin’ tales
About long ago and yesterday

Cars and trucks passin’ me by
No time to stop and lend a hand
Broke down on that ol’ sixty-six
I’m certain it’ll happen again

Ain’t a livin’ thing in sight
Hasn’t been for a spell
Driver jus’ a keep ramblin’ on
Got nothin’ left atall cept this ol’ guitar
And no place to call my own
