I'll Never Ask Why

Thank you Vincent
For showing me that there is honor and dignity
On the calluses of my hands
And for those that till the land

From the yellowing canvas of a hundred years old

To the light that shines on their faces
As solemn and humble as they appear
Sharing meager portions unselfishly
And to me they could have been royalty

Standing in line as all of us do
To the distant faces that nobody knew

Paint me a picture
I’ll always feel the dull pain
As you gaze out your window
In contempt and disdain

Blue is your laughter
And gray is your sky
Now I understand
I’ll never ask why
