Lady Of The Nile

Wild eyed tales told from the Egyptian lady
Speaking of fortunes sent from the almighty
Empty halls echoing with thrown away memories
Souls from the past not soon forgotten

The taking of vows deep in compassion
Forsaking the oaths now strewn from the heart
Accepting the new without guilt or remorse
Accenting the ageless with traditions of man

Tall tales of the holy while those that surround you
Know of the folly which stains the past
Paths of corruption, desolation, despair
The reprobate visions which lift her upon high

Staring at awe at the relentless decision
You do not give when you have nothing to lose
...to gain is to receive

Straight and narrow the gates of uprightness
Cast them away as the skip of a stone
Torn and tormented her path so perplexed
Knowing all matter and weighing the chance

Leads to justification of why and why not
Precious jewels of the mighty, the riches of man
Even the myths of the ages wither away
Each secret that is whispered
The ones withheld

The blood stained sacrifices of others
Which keep your visions afar
Empty hands reach out to pull you within grasp
Falling short for the reasons known only to one
And you back to what was once dear
